OFSTED REPORT 2008

We now have the report of our Ofsted inspection. I am delighted to say the inspection went extremely well. From the last inspection there has been improvement across the board with the inspection team saying that we are a rapidly improving school.

In the categories of Personal Development and Well-being, Teaching and Learning, Curriculum and other Activities, Care, Guidance and Support and Leadership and Management we have been graded as Good. Our overall grade, however, has been put as Satisfactory. This is entirely due to the examination results from last year’s Year 11 which, although they had improved to 41%, were still seen by Ofsted to be only satisfactory. We challenged a lot of the data they were using because some of it was inaccurate and feel quite disappointed that the school’s standing is essentially based on the GCSE results, especially as they were inspecting before the results for our current Year 11 have been achieved. However they have agreed that this school has the potential to be outstanding in a very short space of time and that will be our mantra for next year: ‘Towards Outstanding’.

We look forward to our examination results this summer and I am very pleased that Ofsted saw so much improvement in our school which places us ideally for the future. I invite you to click on the attached link and read the whole report.
